Trika Arabia

A Case Study.

A collaboration between Trika Arabia and YesColours.

Colour considered for the UAE.

For Dubai Design Week, YesColours and Trika Arabia developed two palettes: one inspired by Dubai and one by Abu Dhabi, to mark a new partnership.

Trika Arabia brings regional expertise. YesColours brings a belief that colour is about how you feel in a space and how it can benefit you there. Together, we asked what colour looks like when it is made for a region rather than borrowed from a trend.

A Colour Palette for Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

In collaboration with Trka Arabia, we have developed a bespoke colour offering for the UAE, bringing together our shared design expertise, regional insight and deep understanding of colour and coatings.

Drawing on research into the region’s unique environmental conditions, natural light and the changing perception of colour throughout the day, our teams have carefully curated two distinctive palettes designed specifically for Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

We are delighted to introduce these palettes at Dubai Design Week, celebrating the beginning of our partnership with TRIKA ARABIA and our shared commitment to bringing the transformative power of colour to the region.

The Dubai palette.

Dubai is experienced through light rather than colour: through haze, glass, metallic reflections and the intensity of the sun.

Loving Blue anchors the collection, a deep, considered blue that evokes the weight and reflection of glass towers at dusk. Dirty Red introduces its only warmth, a muted, sandy rose inspired by sandstone and the tones of the desert’s red rock. Nostalgic Grey captures the city’s atmospheric haze, a very light, warm grey with an off-white quality that offers a moment of softness and relief from the glare. Secluded Lilac acts as the Dubai accent: a dusky lilac that gives the palette a distinctive sense of place, introducing a subtle note of twilight without disrupting its overall calm.

The Abu Dhabi palette.

Abu Dhabi feels softer, greener and more open, shaped by its proximity to water, mangroves and the gentle light of its gardens.

Secluded Green and Dirty Olive Green draw from this landscape: one a warm, leafy green, the other a quieter, greyer olive that recalls the cool shade beneath a palm. Nostalgic Yellow introduces the warmth of sun-dried walls, offering a light, easy counterpoint to the greens. Secluded Red acts as the Abu Dhabi accent: a muted plum-red that brings a richer, more contemplative note to the palette, echoing the deeper tones of the landscape as daylight begins to fade.
