J. Adams & Co.

A Case Study.

Our collaboration with J. Adams & Co. unites two British brands rooted in craft, permanence, and considered design.

A new capsule collection.

Working with the J. Adams & Co. creative team, we developed a colour collection that reflects the brand's minimal aesthetic while drawing from London's contemporary design scene and Birmingham's industrial heritage.

This capsule paint collection traces a journey of transformation — from raw materials and industrial heritage to refined, design-led spaces. Each colour represents a stage in that story.

The colours.

A collaboration: built on craft and heritage.

When YesColours and J. Adams & Co. began developing the colour palette for their collaboration, one shared philosophy quickly became clear: truly beautiful objects are made to last. Each luminaire begins as an exploration of form, materiality and light in J. Adams & Co.’s London studio, before being handcrafted in Birmingham using over fifty years of manufacturing heritage.

That alignment shaped the creative direction from the outset. Both brands believe that restraint is not the same as simplicity, that place and process matter, and that materials should be allowed to speak for themselves. The handmade brass and glass lights sit naturally alongside a palette inspired by industrial heritage, creating a considered interior story where colour, craft and materiality work in harmony.

YesColours

The result.

A shared vision proving that colour is a strategic design tool.

In 2026, Three new colours were developed to expand the collection, each one tracing a journey of transformation from raw material and craft to the considered refinement of the finished interior. Industrial in inspiration, architectural in character, and deliberately understated, each shade is rooted in place without being literal.

The collection works across three levels:

  • Individual shades with distinct character and purpose.
  • A cohesive palette that creates a unified interior story.
  • Colours that complement natural materials including brass, timber, stone, and patinated metals.materials and industrial heritage to refined, design-led spaces. Each colour represents a stage in that story.

This collaboration reinforces the role of colour beyond decoration. Through material-led thinking and architectural restraint, the palette enhances both the lighting and the spaces they inhabit.

“These shades celebrate the grit and craft of British design, bridging past and present.”
