How to use Pantone's Colour of the Year 2025 — Mocha Mousse — in your interior

By Emily Harnasz on

Is there a more highly anticipated launch in the colour world than Pantone’s Colour of the Year? We think not. And whilst we’re not entirely trend-driven here at YesColours, we love seeing what’s capturing imaginations and resonating culturally each year.

For 2025, Pantone have chosen Mocha Mousse — a muted, paired back brown colour that is inherently soft, grounded and comforting.

According to Pantone, their Colour of the Year for 2025 — Mocha Mousse, is a warming, brown hue imbued with richness, nurturing us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.

If you’re looking for a YesColours alternative to use right away in your home, look no further than our Dirty Peach or Nostalgic Peach paint colours. Dirty Peach is our dusty plaster peach hue with plenty of depth and warmth, whilst Nostalgic Peach is a slightly softer mid-toned tan colour that all neutral lovers will adore.

These peach paint shades are extremely versatile, ideal for both a minimalist paint colour scheme or something more bold and adventurous. They act like a trustworthy friend, a reassuring cup of coffee or a cosy night by the fire — welcoming and wholesome... and here’s how to use them your own interior and home decor colour palette.

Monochrome moment.

If calm, laid-back spaces are your thing, try incorporating this type of hue into a monochromatic colour scheme. Basically, using tonal brown hues in a variety of textures and finishes for a plush, sophisticated vibe. The best way to embrace this style is by using Dirty Peach and/or Nostalgic Peach as your base — wash it across all surfaces for that warm, cocooning effect, then layer, layer, layer! Think velvets, wools, cottons, silk, and natural wood to create a grounded, yet luxurious scheme.

A Dirty Peach colour drench is always a good idea, especially for spaces like hallways, living rooms and bedrooms.

Unexpected pairing.

One of our favourite ways to use a delectable cocoa colour like Mocha Mousse (or any colour really) is to do something left field. For us, there’s nothing more delicious than splashing a rich, warm tone against our iconic Yves Klein-inspired Electric Blue paint colour. Picture this: Electric Blue caressing the walls, then paired with strokably soft brown furniture and bringing geometric shapes in artwork and accessories to complete the look — a theme that’s edgy, unforgettable and oh-so-original.

Our Nostalgic Peach paint colour is a mid-tone tan hue with a warm terracotta undertone, perfect for lovers of neutral shades who want to add a little bit of excitement to their existing interior colour scheme.

Balanced contrast.

For a dynamic and exciting approach, pair our Dirty Peach paint colour with a palette of balanced greens and blues. But rather than our previous energetic suggestion, opt for softer and more harmonious hues. Have a look at our Dirty Olive Green, Calming Blue and Loving Teal paint colours singing together in a glorious symphony of tranquility and intrigue. To take this further, just keep layering those blue and green colours — you can't go wrong, especially if you're a maximalist through and through. It’s perfect for spaces you want to fill with personality and character (which is every room in our opinion), but specifically inviting living rooms and dining spaces.

We see Pantone’s Mocha Mousse as a timeless staple; it's versatile, grounded and fits harmoniously in pretty much any colour scheme. Yes, it's the 2025 Colour of the Year but we think it's here to stay.

We hope these home decor tips have inspired you to embrace the Pantone Colour of the Year 2025 — Mocha Mousse — and introduce some soft peach paint colours to your interior and home decor palette.
